Sarcastic Article from "The Onion" on Childhood Imagination

Child-Safety Experts Call For Restrictions On Childhood Imagination

WASHINGTON, DC—"By constantly reminding kids that they're human children with no magical skills, you ensure that they will live a prolonged life," child-safety expert Kenneth McMillan said.

My mother sent me the link to this sarcastic article...
As an unschooler, the idea of trying to limit my children's imagination is completely ludicrous.
With mentions of things like the estimated number of accidents from "Bookcase Mountain", safety measures presented such as labeling all loose sticks with "Not a Sword" tags, and discouraging aimless playtime activities in favor of activities that have a rigid and repetitive structure such as "sticking and unsticking two pieces of Velcro", this article left me rolling on the floor in laughter! Perhaps I should go find the mentioned brochure of guidelines so that I can keep myself from getting hurt again! LOL
I hope you enjoy it as much as I did! Definitely a must have print out for the "rainy day" folder... the things that make you smile when you are feeling blue!

Thanks Mom!
